My Story

IMG20211209132610_edited.jpg

From a young age, I have always been interested in art and other creative outlets. At age 11 my father enrolled me into folkloric dancing (Serbian), which over the years became a dedicated passion of mine. Eventually, I took the opportunity to become a volunteer choreographer and expanded my Serbian folk dancing into other Eastern European/Balkan dances.

During my primary/secondary education, I had always gravitated towards creativity-driven subjects, such as textiles and visual art. When I finally took the plunge and enrolled into my Bachelor of Design and Technology course, I had the opportunity to expand my interests and apply them to different facets of my life.

As I shifted into my degree, I developed an interest in cosplay

(costume play). I started out by creating small props such as ears or small character items. After 2 years of university and learning new techniques and skills based on human-centred design, I made my first big prop in 2021 and have plans to make more in the future.

During my studies, I had worked on developing my prototyping and research skills, which piqued my interest in modelling. I had used several prototyping techniques including cardboard/paper, wireframing, acrylic, foam - however, 3D printing was becoming popular and more accessible. I purchased a 3D printer and started modelling basic shapes in CAD software to apply them to some of my smaller scale prototypes. Throughout my various projects, I tried to utilise 3d printing as often as possible, because of its speed, precision and consistency. I enjoyed 3D printing so much that I print many other items that I use day to day such as an iPad stand and cable organiser.
